After a short well-deserved break in August, last week saw the first in our Autumn series of events.

Kindly hosted by Trowers and Hamlins in Birmingham, the September event was rather aptly titled “Back to School : Learning Outcomes Framework”.    The event was designed to explore the components of a good BIM education; whether new to BIM or wishing to expand pre-existing BIM knowledge, working on projects or coming to it from an academic background. It was also aimed at senior managers/clients who perhaps need to better understand how staff could be upskilled.

Kicking off the evening was the usual general networking and an opening welcome and introduction from West Midlands BIM Hub member Tim Willis of Trowers and Hamlins.  This was then followed by the main presentation of the evening by our guest speaker Richard Lane, UK BIM Task Group Support Officer to Government. Richard is responsible for education and the production of the Learning Outcomes Framework and throughout his guest slot, covered such topics such as the BIM Task Group’s Education and Training Strategy, the Learning Outcomes Framework, BIM in Eduction and the BIM Academic Forum and finally the controversial topic of BIM Accreditation and Certification.

As usual there was some great engagement and feedback on Twitter and you can check out our Storify story below to see the best of these tweets.

A big thank you to all those  who attended our event and a big thank you to Trowers and Hamlins Law Firm in Birmingham for kindly hosting the event and providing lovely refreshments!

Our next event is coming up on 7th October 2015 and is a departure from the norm! Registration is open now so head to our Events page for more information.
